Welcome: Visit to Spello - Welcome Dinner

Arrival in Umbria scheduled after lunch, accommodation in a 3* agriturismo / hotel between Foligno and Perugia according to remaining availability at the time of confirmation, and in the afternoon we suggest a visit to Spello at leisure.

The Consular Gate marks the entrance to the city of Spello or, as Julius Caesar called it, the"Splendidissima Colonia Julia", an enchanting village of Roman origin, listed among the most beautiful villages in Italy, thanks to its rich environmental, cultural and artistic heritage. Spello still preserves traces of its historical past with its ancient walls and Properzio Towers protecting Porta Venere, another access point to the town. The Church of Santa Maria Maggiore can be reached by strolling through charming alleys and ancient streets, along which flowered balconies overlook the town and which, with the passage of time, have become true symbols of the town, and still remain one of its most sought-after attractions. The church houses an artistic treasure inside: the Baglioni Chapel, with Deruta majolica floor tiles and frescoes by Pinturicchio. Spello also boasts a rich picture gallery and, just outside the walls, a marvellous museum complex known as the 'Villa Dei Mosaici', which has unearthed 500 square metres of precious mosaics whose central theme is the grape harvest and wine.

Approx. 20:30 - Rich welcome dinner in a restaurant selected by us with drinks included. After dinner, return to accommodation and overnight stay.

Gita in Mountain Bike - pranzo - Visita di Montefalco

Breakfast at an agriturismo / 3* hotel and meeting with the guide who will accompany you on your mountain bike excursion along a scenic route suitable for everyone.

Planned route: Mountain Bike trip from Assisi to Spello| The mountain bike trip from Assisi to Spello is a fascinating experience that allows you to explore the natural and historical beauty of Umbria. This route is suitable for cyclists of various levels of experience and offers a mix of moderate challenges and beautiful views . Starting point: Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis. Departing from Assisi means immediately plunging into an atmosphere full of spirituality and history. The route begins with a moderate climb through the streets of Assisi, allowing views of the Umbrian valley. After passing the historic centre, we continue south-east towards the Monte Subasio Park, a protected area rich in flora and fauna. Here, the terrain becomes more challenging with dirt tracks and paths winding through woods and meadows. The climbs can be steep in places, but are compensated by fun descents and spectacular views. After reaching one of the highest points of Monte Subasio, the descent towards Spello begins. This part of the route is characterised by easier trails and dirt roads that offer a more relaxing ride. The panoramic view of the Umbrian countryside is one of the highlights of the route. At an altitude of about 600 metres above sea level along the route we encounter Collepino, a small medieval village located in the heart of Umbria, in the municipality of Spello. After a few kilometres downhill, we encounter the town famous for its Infiorata: Spello. End of the mountain bike excursion and services of the guide. After the ride, you can stroll through the streets of Spello and visit its places of interest - lunch in a local restaurant with drinks included.

After lunch, we suggest a free visit to Montefalco, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. An Umbrian village of incredible history and beauty Montefalco is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, situated on a hilltop overlooking the plain of the Topino and Clitunno rivers. Montefalco is called the railing of Umbria; from its belvederes, in fact, it is possible to admire a 360-degree panorama over the entire valley between Perugia and Spoleto, from the slopes of the Subappennines to those of the Martani Mountains. The village, which develops in a halo of suggestive cobbled alleys all around the marvellous central square, boasts numerous points of interest: the city walls, the Verziere Tower, and the magnificent museum centre of San Francesco. The complex, built by the Friars Minor between 1335 and 1338, houses spectacular frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli depicting episodes from the life of St Francis, and numerous other works of great beauty and inestimable value.

Return to accommodation, free dinner and overnight stay.

Free visit to Assisi and departure

Today, the last day of our adventure, following breakfast at the agriturismo / 3* hotel, we recommend a free visit to Assisi.

Pax et Bonum! This is the greeting with which Assisi welcomes you, a Franciscan place par excellence, not only in Umbria and Italy, but throughout the world. St Francis was in fact born in Assisi in 1182; in the place where his birthplace is believed to have been located, today stands the Chiesa Nuova. It is in Assisi that he was baptised, in the Cathedral of San Rufino, it is among its alleys that he spent his youth dreaming of a future as a valiant knight, it is here, where the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore stands today, in the Piazza del Vescovado, that he stripped himself, repudiating earthly goods for love of God and his brothers and sisters. It is still in Assisi, in the Church of San Damiano, that praying before the crucifix, he receives the task of renewing the Church of Christ, it is in the town square that he begins his preaching and his work of charity and peace, and it is finally here that he dies in 1226. His remains are preserved in the Basilica of St Francis, but the saint still lives on in every stone of Assisi. Stroll through its enchanting alleys and visit the Franciscan sites.

Departure and return home.
