Leaving from Località Gabbiano (Assisi), we travel along sheep-tracks that lead to higher altitudes. Skirting the hillside, you can see Madonna della Spella (Spello), and climb further up towards an altitude of 1200 metres. Follow the signs for Mortaro Grande placed on large stones every 200/300 metres.

The view of the dolina and the magnificent panorama is very suggestive. Continuing on towards Località gli Stazzi through the pastures, one can encounter many wild horses. Refreshments are available at the Stazzi. After the break, we descend slightly towards the Stazzi refuge, continuing along the path and then crossing a small valley to reach Sassopiano: a panorama from which the whole of Umbria can be admired. Continuing on, halfway up the hillside, we pass Fonte Bregno and then descend to the starting point.
